This is the first review written about this hotelJune 19 2007: The best way to experience this hotel is as a Platinum Starwood member because you get the opportunity to upgrade your room for free on a first-come-first-serve basis.  This hotel was originally a Ritz-Carlton.  We checked in at 4 PM and were upgraded to a larger room with a king bed, 2 flat screen tv's, a large living room, and 1.5 baths.  Bathrooms were all marble. The staff was extremely friendly.  There was ample starbucks coffee available in the room, and an empty mini fridge.  This hotel is centrally located in downtown Philly.  Walking distance to Rittenhouse Square and surrounded by shops, restaurants, and clubs.  My wife surprised me by checking us in for a night on Father's Day.

This is the first review written about this hotelNovember 9 2007: We have stayed at the Westin in Philadelphia several times.  They have the perfect suite of rooms for my husband, kids and mother - to all travel together. Working with the hotel staff, we have come up with exactly what we want.  Don’t go through the national reservations line for Westin Hotels – call the hotel directly, it’s the only way to get exactly what you want.  I have found that the national reservation line doesn’t know the details of the specific hotel.

Walk two blocks from the hotel to Walnut Street and have a fabulous meal at any one of the great restaurants, stop by The Children’s Place for something fun for the kids, or spend time in the park. We have also gone to museums there – don’t miss the armor exhibit at the Franklin museum – my son loved it.

One last thing, Richard, the concierge, has helped with a babysitting service so the adults can go out for a fantastic meal down the street.  Oh – if you didn’t know, the Westin gives the kids great welcome backpacks – they love them. Once they were out…which made them sad…but do ask.

Westin-Philadelphia
Downtown, Classic, Not Stylish
November 29 2007: I traveled a lot to Philadelphia for work and whenever I could, I tried to stay at the Westin.  If you are booking for the weekend, try to book in a timely manner, otherwise they will be booked the entire weekend. I always received prompt and friendly service as soon as I arrived at the front desk.  Some employees even remembered me and welcomed me back each time I stayed.  The rooms are always clean and you really can't find a better location for a hotel room when staying in Philadelphia.
