November 2 2007: Word on the street is that the Cavalier Inn is going to be demolished in the next two years to make way for a new Arts Center for the University of Virginia. This imminent destruction is evident in the malaise that has befallen this once cheery hotel situated right across the main UVA grounds, making it an otherwise well-located hotel for visiting family at the school.
The Best Western Cavalier Inn borders between a two and three star hotel. The issue is that it can be quite loud as it's on a busy intersection, and the furnishings and fixtures of the hotel clearly haven't been updated in quite some time, on account of the fact that they're all going to be demolished to bits in the very near future. I stayed here several years ago but have been back since to visit friends...for the same money, I'd book up the block at either the Hampton Inn or Courtyard Marriot on Main Street, both with much better interiors, breakfasts and rooms.
