Love to find a new spot. Enjoyed South America and New Orleans recently. Like activity, but food and wine a must. With wife Nature, and boutique hotel - with fellas then it is Hunting, fishing and games. Always love Water.
December 2 2007: We live in Charlottesville and this year for our anniversary we decided that we would disappear for the night and stay at our local gem. Having been to a wedding, and eaten dinner a few times we knew that it was a great little hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the nice music in our room as we arrived. We quickly went for a walk and built up a strong appetite. After a cocktail, croquet and horseshoes we were ready for dinner. Dinner was perfect. Three courses with some fantastic wine we enjoyed every minute. The service was perfect, and we knew we had picked the right spot. The next day we had a complete breakfast and spent the next six hours at the infinity pool. What a day! I would highly recommend this spot for your next special occasion...

October 1 2007: I stayed at the Clifton Inn while on a recruiting trip to Charlottesville. It is by far the best hotel in Charlottesville, and I have never had a better experience at any hotel in Virginia (Tides, Jefferson, Boar's Head, etc.). Outstanding for a getaway and also great for business travelers. The food was sublime as well. They leave snifters of port and cherry in your room for a nightcap. That's southern hospitality!

When I travel, I enjoy getting off the beaten path and creating new experiences. My favorite destinations generally include outdoor activities and comfortable place to relax afterward.
June 19 2007: Eclectic rooms spread out over easily walkable grounds and the best food I've had in a long time. Extraordinarily friendly staff who always remember your name and anticipate what you are looking for. Don't miss the late night cookie jar in the kitchen.

July 23 2008: I had meetings to attend in Charlottesville and found the Clifton by accident on Expedia; what a great accident! Only problem: I did not want to leave my hotel room to go the meeting!!! I had breakfast in the morning (a full breakfast that is, which is included in the price of the room) in the Veranda and it was absolutely perfect. The ricotta pancakes were simply delicious; I would have loved more time to sip my coffee and enjoy the beautiful view... Anyways, my reservation is already made for August to return with my boyfriend for a romantic stay. I can't wait!
