Perfectly Adequate Place to Sleep for a Night
Budget, Downtown, Tourists
This is the first review written about this hotelOctober 29 2007: The Hampton Inn in Charlottesville is your absolutely predictable, totally bland and boring, yet clean, courteous, and convenient, place to sleep for a night or two.

The idea here is that this hotel is in no way an experience.  If you're coming into town to see your kid at UVA, or for a football weekend, or to see Billy Joel play at the JPJ, this is a perfectly adequate place if you can get in at around $90 a night.  If you're paying more than that, I'd look to get into the Courtyard Marriott on the other side of Main Street, or if you can get in at the Omni for under $130 (difficult, but possible), that's a real deal.

This hotel is situated on Main street, so it's about equidistant from the Corner (all the UVA stuff) and the Downtown Mall (good restaurants, bars, art galleries, pavillion).

The breakfast is included in the room, but don't hold your breath.  It's like having breakfast at the 7/11.  Grab a banana and a bagel and head over to the Blue Moon Cafe for a great brunch of eggs any style, artisan bacon, and sourdough bread.

Date of stay: June 2005
Purpose of stay: Leisure (Alone)
