An absolutely phenomenal hotel experience

This is the first review written about this hotelNovember 6 2007: You are going to LOVE this place!  First of all, the Colonnade Town House Hotel has the best brunch I have ever had, anywhere!  And that is saying something!  I mean, the eggs taste as if they just plopped out of the hen.  The cheeses, meats, the made to order food, everything is simply exquisite, and the sun-filled ground floor breakfast room is just such a wonderful place to start the day.

This hotel, from what I understand, used to be a hospital, back in the day, and it still has its original elevator, you know the one that you close shut yourself.  Each room is uniquely appointed with beautiful antique furniture and gorgeous linens, there are plush bathrobes, great bathrooms, a cozy interior staircase, this is just a comfy, charming place.

The Colonnade is situated 30 seconds from the London Underground, so it's simple to get around, and there's a nice glass of port waiting for you in the living room when you get back from a day at the theatre.  It's like staying at your rich English aunt's house, the one you never knew you had.

A cozy bit of Olde London
Romantic, Classic, Historic, Quiet, Cozy, Business People, Not Budget
June 11 2007: Stayed here on a business trip in 1998 on the recommendation of my brother. It's nice. Not the most central location for seeing the West End, and not the most fancily appointed hotel, but definitely makes up for that with modest pricing (by London standards) and a quiet atmosphere. Fits right in with the period Georgian charm of the rest of the Maida Vale-Paddington-Notting Hill area. Close to Little Venice and the Bakerloo line, lots of pleasant walking in the neighborhood. Rooms typically dinky as in most London hotels, but you're only there to sleep, right?
